Vettel brands F1 as 'very cruel' sport

Sebastian-VettelLondon, July 17 : Red Bull's ace racer Sebastian Vettel has said that Formula One can be a very cruel sport as the consecutive four time world champion attempts to save his season.

The German, who heads into his home race this weekend placed at sixth position in the championship and without a podium finish, said that it has been a tough start and a rough season so far.

Vettel said that Formula One can be fantastic, as he has experience of, but it can be very cruel in retiring from problems, adding that one only relies on his car and it is part of the game, The BBC reported.

Vettel has failed to complete three of the nine races so far this season as Red Bull have struggled for pace compared to the dominant Mercedes team.

The 27-year-old is 95 points, nearly four clear victories, behind championship leader Nico Rosberg of Mercedes, and 28 points adrift of new teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who has out-qualified Vettel five times since replacing fellow Australian Mark Webber.

However, Vettel said that despite his problems he is still enjoying Formula One and also said a quote that he often reads to himself: "'Forget the people around you now; remember the little boy who was racing in go-karts, what you were dreaming of and what he wanted to achieve one day and what was his goal. Race for him."

Vettel said that he loves racing and the amount of satisfaction he gets just going around in a formula one car makes him smile, so he added that if it is a bad day then one tends to come out and say it is horrible. (ANI)
