Vitamin C can curb cancer growth, say New Zealand researchers
It has been found in a recent research by New Zealand scientists that Vitamin C can help check the growth of cancer cells. The results of this research offer a simple way to both prevent and cure cancer.
It was found that vitamin C had a potential to reduce endometrial tumors in cancer patients and thereby limit the spread of the disease.
Also, the lack of vitamin C led to the survival and growth of the tumor. Tumors having low vitamin C levels carry more of a protein called HIF-1 which helps them to survive and grow in stressful conditions.
The results of this research are important as they demonstrate the connection between HIF-1 and vitamin C levels in cancerous tumors and consequentially suggest that the presence of more Vitamin C checks the spread of cancer in the body cells, thereby limiting the rate of tumor growth. High vitamin C levels also increase the responsiveness to chemotherapy thereby checking the formation of solid tumors.
More elaborate details of this research are issued in the latest edition of the Cancer Research journal.
