Vodafone India crosses the 100 million customer mark

Vodafone India crosses the 100 million customer markClaiming its position at number five on global perspective, Vodafone pronounces to have surpassed the 100 million subscriber mark.

Vodafone, rejoicing the number three position in India, following behind the trails of number one Airtel followed by Reliance has supposedly joined the club of 100 million subscribers, says a statement released by the company.

Vodafone's growth has significantly risen since its entry in the Indian market. It was 2007 when Vodafone surged in the Indian Market and acquired 67 percent stake from Hutchinson for $11.1 billion. Presently Vodafone has its presence across 23 circles in India.

The company is also vying for a good pie of the 3G space in India by playing a major role in the upcoming 3G auctions. It is in lieu with the arch rival Airtel who's showing a similar interest in the same territory.

Marten Pieters, CEO Vodafone Essar stated, "This is a significant achievement for us and reflects the trust customers have bestowed on the company". "In the past three years, we have invested over Rs. 200 billion to expand our operations to service customers in India," he further added.

As per the census, Vodafone with this milestone has attuned the number five position in the global platform. The first and the second place in the same criteria is held by China Mobile, China Unicom from China - followed by Airtel, Reliance and now Vodafone.
