Volkswagen starts production of Vento

Volkswagen-VentoAfter releasing the sketch of the upcoming sedan in the Indian market, sources confirm the development that the German auto major, Volkswagen has started the production of Vento at its Chakan unit near Pune.

While it is expected to be launched by the month of August-September this year, it is believed that the C-segment sedan will be positioned between the Polo hatchback and Jetta D-segment sedan.

In fact, it will be competing against the product matching the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Toyota's upcoming Etios sedan, Maruti Suzuki SX4, Ford Fiesta, etc. in the Indian market. While the company hasn't officially revealed the price, but sources say that it will priced in the range of Rs. 9-10 lakh.

The product will be a latest addition to the portfolio of Volkswagen in the Indian market that already includes Passat, Jetta, Touareg, New Beetle, Phaeton and the very recently and successfully-launched Polo hatchback. The company said that it had begun the test production few months ago and the consumer can expect the product in the coming few months.

Meanwhile, the company is also working on its plan to ramp up the production at its Chakan unit to meet the rising demand for the hatchback model, Polo.
