Volvo IT starts Command Centre in Bangalore

VolvoVolvo IT has started a new global command centre in Bangalore. The new control center will assist its parent, the Volvo Group, in remotely managing and supporting infrastructure, networks and computers.

Mr. Satish Rajkumar, head of Volvo IT India said that the new Indian control center would monitor Volvo Group's IT operations at 17 locations worldwide from Bangalore.

The Bangalore-based control center has a giant screen formed by the combination of several 80-inch wide-screen monitors. The screen will display all the alerts generated and problems faced by the system.

The new facility holds 40 operators, who are extensively trained to deal quickly with any network or system-related problems even before the users get a hint of it.

The new command center facilitates Volvo IT India to develop a global network for maintaining its IT services worldwide. The facility will help the company in providing IT specialist skills to remote locations.

Volvo IT India has been doing the IT operations and application development in India for the last four years.

Mr. Rajkumar said that the company has employee strength of 120 and about 400 other employees are working under contractors. He added that the new facility would hold 80 staff members and 30 others would be placed by contractors.
