The dream of people who want to build an ideal home on moon has received a support from the latest research. Moon is considered inhabitable due to presence of insufficient amount of water on the surface of moon. But the latest research has shown the possibility of presence of water in the moon equal to the amount of water in the earth crust.

A group of scientist has tested the samples of moon rock brought back from the Apollo landing with the new materials analysis test called secondary ion mass spectrometry or SIMS .According to the earlier research lunar samples had water only by 50 parts per million (ppm).But with the latest SIMS technique lunar samples are estimated to have 260 ppm of water .This latest research has turned the basic attitude towards the research related to the moon. According to the established notion moon was a dry place. But the new research has proved the possibility of presence of large amount of water in the crust of moon.

This latest research has spread a wave of excitement among the scientist working on various lunar projects. But there are still some doubts about the research. Some scientists feel that the samples used for the test could be the part of only a specific area. Hence the results obtained  from the test of these samples couldn’t be applied to  the whole surface of moon.
