From years now, we always have been hearing of anonymous space ships and UFOs being seen in various parts of the world. From years now, Aliens have been contributing a lot to our entertainment.

But recently, a leading scientist and astronomer Dr. Christian Kaiser, has declined all such rumors that aliens have ever visited the Earth. The reason put forward by him was the enormous distance between the planets.

Since the first detection of an unambiguous planet in 1992, 300 planets have been detected till now.

Dr. Kaiser belongs to the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton.

He said that there has been breakthrough progress in finding the new planets. The proof of life on other planets would be a great achievement and would challenge out social, political and religious thinking.

He further added, “Until recently, most detected planets have masses much larger than that of Earth, but new discoveries push that limit down to only a few Earth masses. Planets comparable to Earth should have solid surfaces and may harbour life.”

However, Dr Kaiser explained that distances between the stars in the galaxy is enormous, therefore it is really hard for the aliens from some other planet to visit the earth.

Dr Kaiser will explain techniques behind detecting new planets, and would also present the latest discoveries with the discussion of possibility of life on other planets, in his talk for the Bath Science Café, which will be held in The Raven Pub, in Bath, Somerset, on July 14. The talk is open for all and no tickets or reservations are required.
