Woman, who lost $85,000, hopes for help

Woman, who lost $85,000, hopes for helpThey hope someone will come forward with it, says the family of an Indiana woman who lost the $85,000 in life savings she had just withdrawn from a bank.

WXIN-TV, Indianapolis, reported on Wednesday that Barbara Bennett, 81, withdrew the money from an Indianapolis bank to cover medical bills for her husband, who is in a nursing home. She put the money in a manila envelope and thought she put it in her car.

When she got home, the money was not in the car. Her son Greg Bennett went to the bank to search.

Greg said, "I came back here, looked around all over the parking lot, down the street. We traced with the bank and I still think there might be more hope that we might see something on tape."

WXIN-TV further reported that bank officials reviewed the tapes but said there was no sign the money was dropped inside the bank.

Bennett's family is now trying to raise reward money in hopes of finding the missing cash.

Bennett is distraught, says daughter Nancy Potter.

Potter said, "She's just beside herself. She can't forgive herself. She feels bad. She misses my father terribly. She just got preoccupied."
