Women fall sick in 3 Indian states after using mehendi

IndiaIn a shocking development, over a dozen women in three states of the country fell ill after applying mehendi on their hands on the occasion of Eid.

It is reported that the women in Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal developed rashes on the skin after applying mehendi.

In West Bengal, 9 women were admitted to Burdwan medical college, while two were admitted in Bankura and four in Malda.

Over hundred people have been affected in the state.

Speaking on this, Sridhar Ghosh, District Magistrate of Malda, said: “We received reports of young women falling ill after applying mehendi in Galsi and other areas of the district. Some had to be admitted in hospitals. However, most others are panic cases.”

Meanwhile, more than 300 women were taken to the government hospitals in Orissa.

The women in Balasore and Bhadrak districts of the state complained of nausea, skin rash and swellings on their arms after applying mehendi.

Most of them were admitted to Bant in Bhadrak district and Jaleswar, Soro and Balasore in Balasore district.
