Zardari accepts PML-N ministers’ resignation, no fresh efforts to rope in N-League againIslamabad, Sept 11 : The Pakistan Government on Wednesday evening formally accepted the resignation of the five PML-N ministers who had resigned nearly two months ago in protest against the PPP-led Government’s dillydallying tactics in restoring the deposed Supreme Court judges.

Though the acceptance of resignation of PML-N ministers was pending for nearly two months, the Government okayed it within three days of the new President Asif Ali Zardari assuming the Presidency.

Meanwhile, PPP sources said that no fresh efforts would be made from the party to invite the PML-N to once again join the federal government. Denying media reports that discussions were being held with the PML-N leadership debating its return to the Government, party spokesman Farhatullah Babar said that no new efforts were made to convince the PML-N to rejoin the coalition.

Any new development in this regard would be made public, the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

While accepting the PML-N ministers’ resignations, President Zardari and Prime Minister Yosuf Raza Gilani discussed the cabinet’s expansion and reshuffle. They also discussed various issues of national importance, including the economic crisis and the situation in the Tribal Areas, and agreed to formulate effective policies to deal with such challenges.
