Asif Can’t Travel To Dubai Now!

Asif Can’t Travel To Dubai Now!Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources have alleged that fast bowler Mohammad Asif did carry a small amount of opium when he was detained at the Dubai airport last year.

The official documents of the Public Prosecutor's office maintain that Asif cannot travel to Dubai.

It may be here recalled that after playing the inaugural Indian Premier League, the fast bowler had to spent 19 days in detention for possessing banned drugs.

Documents sent by the Public Prosecutor's office in Dubai proved that Asif had been deported last June for possession of 0.24 grams of opium.

The document also added that the pacer, who is also facing a hearing with the Indian Premier League drugs inquiry tribunal for failing a dope test in the league, was fortunate not to face criminal charges by the Dubai police.

In its report, the prosecution office noted that, “The felony of procuring and possessing narcotic drugs as evident from the above facts is established and sufficient for putting the accused to criminal trial for facing the prescribed penalty.”

The prosecutor's office said there was no cause of action for filing a criminal case regarding the charge of bringing and possessing drugs, as the matter is insignificant.

"We recommend deporting the accused and his name be entered in the list of persons prohibited from entering the state once again," the report added.

After the Dubai incident, 26 year old fat bowler was tested positive for using the banned steroid nandrolone during the IPL while representing Delhi Daredevils and is still suspended from playing domestic and international cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
