Dubai - The glitzy Gulf emirate of Dubai is to launch a honey festival, allowing visitors to taste different types of honey from around the world.

According to the festival's organizers, dozens of producers from different countries, including Pakistan, Iran, Yemen and India, are presenting their products at the festival which starts Wednesday.

Visitors will be able to taste from a variety of honey samples before choosing to buy, and information is to be presented on honey's benefits, including its antibacterial properties.

Honey products will not be restricted to edible samples only. Cosmetic and therapeutic products made from honey mixtures will also be present.

The Honey Festival, organized as part of the activities of the Dubai Shopping Festival, will run until February 13. (dpa)
