Mayawati hits back at Maneka Gandhi for her remarks

Mayawati hits back at Maneka Gandhi for her remarksLucknow, Apr 4 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday slammed Independent MP Maneka Gandhi for her remarks after she was not allowed to meet her son Varun Gandhi at the Etah District Jail.

Addressing a press conference here, Mayawati said, "Maneka had said that Mayawati cannot understand the pain of a mother. I just want to tell her that she is the mother of just one son, but I take care of hundreds of people."

"I will not allow anyone, not even the members of the Gandhi family to break the law," the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief added.

While saying that Maneka knows only her pain, she said, "It is not necessary to be a mother to be loving and caring. Maneka should seek pardon from me for what she said yesterday. "

"If Maneka would have brought up Varun well, he would not have landed in jail," Mayawati added.

On Friday, Maneka criticised Mayawati and termed the restriction as ''''frivolous'''' and ''''result of political vendetta''''.

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu had alleged that Varun had been harassed and tortured in the jail.

The BJP leader claimed that Varun was implicated under a conspiracy of the BSP and the Congress.

Naidu also accused the Uttar Pradesh Government of manipulating the CD containing Varun''s speech. (ANI)
