‘Mozart Of Madras’ Visits Dargah In Andhra PradeshLegendry film composer, record producer, musician and singer, A R Rahman, the first Indian to win two Oscars, paid a silence visit to Ameen Peer Dargah located in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday morning.

Rahman made special prayers at the holy dargah and conveyed his thanks to the guru for his exceptional feat.

Besides this, the talented music maestro Rahman also offered a ‘chadar’ at the dargah.

It is learnt that the 43-year-old musical legend from Chennai visits this place every year, and he pays a visit whenever a new project comes his way.

While confirming the news, a construction worker working at the dargah said, “He came around 6.30 am, accompanied by two men, and went straight to the mosque and dargah and later paid respects at the grave of his ‘Pir’. He was here for nearly half an hour. He didn't bring the (Oscar) statuettes, though.”

It is also believed that after their marriage in 2007, both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai had also offered prayers at this dargah.

Rahman recently won the Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Song for his compositions in Slumdog Millionaire at the 81st Academy Awards.

Rahman was born in a musically affluent family in Chennai on January 6, 1966. His acclaimed music compositions have led to references to him as the "Mozart of Madras".
