Lalu files nomination for Saran seatChapra (Bihar), Mar 28: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Saturday filed his nomination papers from the Saran constituency for the upcoming general elections.

Lalu, who was accompanied by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, filed his papers before Additional District Magistrate Madan Pandey, who is the returning officer for the seat.

In 2004, Lalu had won the Chapra seat defeating former Minister of Civil Aviation and BJP''s spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy by 60,423 votes.

Alliance with SP only to strengthen secular bloc: LaluPatna, Mar 27 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Friday said that his party and Ram Vilas Paswan led Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) had allied with the Samajwadi Party (SP) President Mulayam Singh only to strengthen the secular bloc and defeat the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Prasad said that they had not formed a front against the UPA.

"I have no hidden agenda and want to make it clear that I am with the UPA and will be in it in the coming days," he added.

 No fight with Congress: Lalu YadavNew Delhi, Mar 25 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday clarified that he had "no fight" with the Congress Party or with party President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

In an interview with NDTV, Lalu said, "I am not a quiet kind of person. I don''t attack people quietly. My advice to the Congress is that its people should continue to sleep comfortably... we (RJD and LJP) will win and form the UPA Government."

RJD releases candidates list for 28 Bihar seats

BiharNew Delhi, Mar. 23 : The Rashtriya Janta Dal has released its list of 28 candidates for Bihar, with Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav contesting from two constituencies in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"We will now contest in 28 out of 40 seats in Bihar as per our seat sharing pact with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). We will work to defeat communal forces," Lalu said, while adding that the decision on two seats was yet to be taken.

Lalu will contest from the Patliputra and Saran constituencies.

RJD-LJP to contest all seats in Bihar

"The RJD and the LJP will contest all seats in Bihar," Prasad said.

Prasad, however, said that he has no rift with the Congress.

"If UPA returns to power it''s good otherwise there will be some other name," he added.

 We may field candidates on three seats left for Congress: Lalu PrasadNew Delhi, Mar 21 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday said his party and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) would contest in three Lok Sabha constituencies now held by the Congress in the state.

His statement came after Congress announced to contest 37 seats in Bihar.

"If Congress is so strong, why were they demanding more seats from us? Instead, we should have demanded the seats from them," Lalu said.
