Lalu Yadav releases book titled Disaster Management in the Indian Railways

Indian RailwaysNew Delhi, Feb 24 : Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today released a book, titled ''Disaster Management in the Indian Railways'' authored by Minister of State for Railways Dr. R. Velu.

Congratulating Dr. Velu for his book, Yadav said that the Indian Railways is the lifeline of the nation and has frequently played an important role in the management of all kinds of disasters.

"Dr. Velu''s individual efforts to review disaster management on Indian Railways through his book are commendable," he added.

Lalu says no rift within UPA

Lalu Prasad YadavNew Delhi, Feb. 21 : Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday said there were no differences among various constituents of the United Progressive Alliance.

Political churnings had earlier suggested that rifts were beginning to widen between Lalu's Rashtrya Janta Dal and Lok Janshakthi Party of Union Fertilisers and Chemicals Minister Ram Vilas Paswan with the nearing of the general election.

But Lalu denied any trouble between RJD and LJD saying both the parties were loyal to the UPA.

Railway has huge potential for job creation despite recession: Lalu

Indian RailwaysNew Delhi, Feb 21 : Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday underlined the need for infrastructure development and modernization of Railways, and said, Indian Railways has a huge potential for growth and job creation, despite the global meltdown.

"Despite lay offs in some sectors and a freeze on employment, the Railways is moving ahead with new recruitments, and has a huge potential of growth," Lalu told reporters on the sidelines of a function to mark the foundation day of the All India Management Association (AIMA) here.

Lalu Yadav assures security measures for railway passengers

Lalu Prasad YadavNew Delhi, Feb 19 : Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today said that adequate measures will be taken to ensure the safety and security of railway passengers.

Replying to a debate on the interim rail budget as the Lok Sabha reassembled after this morning''s adjournment, Yadav said railway fares have been brought down by 20 per cent and the reservation through Internet is transparent.

"The funds would not be a constraint for replacing old railway lines and other infrastructure," he added.

He said further said that the surveys are also being conducted for laying the new lines.

Lalu offers 11 new trains, a rail division to Bihar in Interim Rail Budget 2009-10

Lalu Prashad YadavNew Delhi, Feb. 13 : As expected, Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has offered his home state of Bihar a bulky package in the Interim Rail Budget 2009-10.

Announcing the railway budget for the sixth consecutive time, Yadav announced 11 new trains for Bihar.

Three new Garib Rath Express, Ajmer-Bhagalpur(Bi-weekly), Jammu-Tawi-Darbhanga (weekly), and Sitamarhi-Delhi (weekly) will be introduced during the budget period.
