Pre-feasibility study to run Delhi-Patna bullet train, announces LaluNew Delhi, Feb 13 : Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today announced that a pre-feasibility study to run a bullet train between Delhi and Patna will soon be started.

Presenting the Interim Railway Budget 2009-10 in the Lok Sabha today, Lalu said this is in addition to the bullet train proposals between Delhi-Amritsar, Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Pune, Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Chennai, Chennai-Bangalore-Ernakulam and Howrah-Halida which were announced in 2007-08 Railway Budget.

Railway Budget 2009-10New Delhi, Feb 13 : Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has arrived in Parliament to present his sixth Railway Budget. As he entered its portals, he waved the red leather case in which he was carrying his proposals.

Before arriving at Parliament, Lalu told media persons that he would announce further sops for train passengers.

Yadav, however, refused to reveal details, but thanked his United Progressive Alliance (UPA) colleagues, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for extending full cooperation in carrying out his policies for public welfare.

Gaps in the network will be bridged: Lalu YadavNew Delhi, Feb 13 : Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has said the spheres in which the Indian Railways lacked would be rectified.

Yadav, who is all set to present the interim Railway Budget in Parliament today, said: "We will give preference to those areas in which our Railways is lagging behind. In fact, there are around 11,000 trains in operation ferrying around one crore of persons (daily) and everything is going on efficiently."

Lalu Prasad YadavNew Delhi, Feb. 9 : RJD chief and Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday accused the BJP of raking up the Ayodhya issue whenever election are around the corner.

"BJP rakes up the temple issue whenever election comes but the country has recognized it now. They have nothing to do with Ram or Krishna. They are actually humiliating the name of Ram for the sake of the chair. They should seek public apology for it," Lalu told reporters here.

"Our Hindu brothers did not like these things and had hence dethroned BJP earlier," Lalu added.

Railways to introduce Bullet train for Delhi-Patna route

Bullet TrainPatna, Jan 22, : Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday said that the Indian Railways have commenced the process for a Bullet train that will run between Delhi and Patna.

"We will introduce a bullet train between Delhi and Patna for which the Railways are going to appoint a consultant for presenting a feasibility report," Lalu, who is also the RJD chief, told a public meeting here.
