Lil'' Wayne leads Grammy Awards nominations

 Isaiah Washington joins Forest Whitaker in ‘Patriots’London, Dec 4 : Lil Wayne has won eight Grammy awards nominations, including album of the year for ‘Tha Carter III’.

Following close behind with seven nominations was British rock band Coldplay, while rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z, and R&B singer Ne-Yo each received six, reports BBC.

San Francisco  - Rapper Lil Wayne topped the Grammy nominations late Wednesday with eight nominations, placing him above Coldplay which garnered seven, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West who each earned six nods.

Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead and Jazmine Sullivan received five nominations each, and Adele, Danger Mouse, Eagles, Lupe Fiasco, George Strait, and T. I. each have four nominations.

"The Grammy Awards process once again has yielded a comprehensive, diverse and eclectic group of excellent nominees across multiple genres," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy.

The rapper''s hit album has beaten Girl Talk''s’ ‘Feed The Animals’, which came second, reports Contactmusic.

TV On The Radio''s ‘Dear Science’ landed the third spot on the new Blender magazine hitlist while Metallica’s ‘Death Magnetic’ came fourth.

Rounding off the top five was Hot Chip’s ‘Made In The Dark’.
