Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday said the government may impose five per cent import duty on cheaper shipments and scrap exports levy of up to 15 per cent as demanded by industry majors like Tata and SAIL.
New Delhi, Oct 15 : Union Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan today said that the fertilizer companies need not worry about the payment of subsidies.
Speaking here after receiving the dividend cheque from the public sector National Fertilizes Limited, Paswan said there is no arrear as regards the payment and additional requirements will me met out of the supplementary demand for grants.
He said international prices of fertilizer have fallen which will help to bring down the subsidy bill. But part of the gain will be off set by the fall in the exchange rate of rupee.
New Delhi, Sept 25 : Union Minister for Steel, Chemicals and fertilizers Ram Vilas Paswan today announced that the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) will add 19 million tonne capacity in Jharkhand.
The project includes a 12 million tonne Greenfield project and a seven million tonne expansion of its existing plant in Bokaro.
He also announced that Olympic Gold medallist Abhinav Bindra will be the brand ambassador for SAIL.
Kolkata, Sept 9 : Union Minister of Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan on Tuesday urged the Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC) to play a more active role in making scrap, iron bearing raw materials, coke as well as semi-finished products of steel available and play its role in ensuring adequate production and availability of finished steel at a reasonable cost.
Paswan stated this today in Kolkata while speaking on the foundation day of MSTC.
New Delhi, Aug 27: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers and Steel Ram Vilas Paswan today accused the Bihar Government of failing to handle the flood situation in the Sate, and charged it with failing to repair river embankments despite warning.
“Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Samastipur, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Saharsa districts are totally submerged in water and the tremendous loss cannot be assessed at this moment,” Paswan told ANI over phone from Purnia.
