Pistons hand Lakers first loss of the season

Pistons hand Lakers first loss of the seasonLos Angeles  - The Detroit Pistons made sure the Los Angeles Lakers would not go undefeated this season.

Rasheed Wallace had 25 points with 13 rebounds, and Allen Iverson also scored 25 as the Pistons snapped the Lakers' seven-game winning streak, with a convincing
106-95 road victory on Friday night.

Iverson didn't put much stock in sending the Lakers to their first loss of the season.

Iverson said it didn't mean too much "because eventually they were going to lose" after the Pistons improved to 3-2 since acquiring the nine-time All-Star from Denver on November 3.

"I didn't think they were going to win all 82 games."

The Lakers had beaten their opponents by an average of 18 points before running into the hard-nosed Pistons.

"We just played defence. We made them work hard. We made them take tough shots," Iverson added. "When they missed shots, we took advantage and ran on them. On the offensive end, we attacked all night."

Tayshaun Prince netted 18 points for Detroit (7-2) which led virtually the entire game en route to beating the Lakers for the ninth time in the last 11 meetings.

"Our chemistry has been up and down," Prince said. "But we played a 48-minute game for the first time this season."

Kobe Bryant had 29 points while Spain's Pau Gasol finished with 15 and 10 rebounds for the Lakers (7-1) which were outplayed at both ends of the court.

"You have to play the right way. We didn't do it tonight," Lakers' Lamar Odom said after scoring 11 points off the bench.

"We didn't move the ball enough; we didn't play defence well enough or long enough. Sometimes you just get beat. They were better than us in every aspect of the game tonight."
