Text snooping is the latest addiction for couples Down Under!

Melbourne, Aug 27 : Couples Down Under have developed a disturbing new habit – text snooping.

That’s the conclusion of a new survey conducted by Virgin Mobile, which has found that one in three Aussies can''t help themselves and check their partner''s mobile phone when they''re in the shower or on the toilet.

But that curiosity has blown up in their faces with 73 per cent finding things they later wished they hadn''t.

Of those sneaky text checkers, 44 per cent stumbled upon messages that ranged from flirtatious to sexually explicit.

The survey, conducted among 18-29 year old mobile users by Galaxy Research, found women were also more likely than men to be SMS snoops.

Clownfish uses its nose to find its way home

ClownfishCanberra, August 27: A research by scientists from Australia, France and the US, has revealed that a species of clownfish (Amphiprion percula), uses its nose to help it locate a suitable habitat.

According to a report by ABC News, although previous research has shown clownfish can smell, these new findings identify the scents they are using.

“It’s always been a mystery to us how they find their way back to a suitable habitat,” said Professor Geoff Jones of James Cook University, Townsville. “We’ve actually narrowed down the chemical signals that they may be using to find their home,” he added.

No medals for pedals in Sydney

Sydney - A temperate climate, no steep hills and few rainy days: despite ideal cycling conditions, residents of Sydney have an aversion to bicycles.

On a per capita basis, twice as many people in Melbourne cycle to work and four times as many in Canberra.

Sydney seems wilfully against pedal-power despite recent research showing that chronic congestion means cycling is usually quicker than the car, the bus or the train.

Christian Wolmar, a London-based transport planner, was invited to Sydney in August to analyse the city's cycling problems.
