Gujarat Venture Finance Ltd. (GVFL) has acquired 26.8% stake in Pegasus Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. for Rs 3.5 crore.

Ahmedabad-based Pegasus offers energy efficient and low cost lighting solutions using LEDs and solar technologies. Among various products of the company, the majority of business comes from 220V LED Street Light System, LED based Solar Home Lighting System and Street Lighting System.

Bhayukharia (Jamnagar), Sep. 23 : While many political leaders in the Indian Parliament have been hesitant to empower women, Bhaukhakharia, an obscure village in Jamnagar District of Gujarat, boasts of an elected all women Panchayat (village council).

By addressing the issues that concern villagers in day-to-day life, the members of the Panchayat have ensured that they will never be viewed as ornamental members.

Residents of the village had elected all the seven members of the village council unanimously.

Surendranagar (Gujarat), Sept 21: The Army has rescued over 2,400 people as flood situation remained grim in Surendranagar District of Gujarat on Saturday.

While no casualty has been reported so far, floodwaters have submerged over 20 villages for the last three days.

The Army is providing food packets to marooned people and has set up health camps in the vicinity.

Though more than 4000 people have been evacuated to safer places, and many more displaced villagers await succor.

The entire region has been converted into a virtual island and the standing water has damaged crops and entire fields.

Army has also been called to carry out rescue operations. Fire brigade officials have also been pressed into action.

Surendranagar (Gujarat), Sept 20 : Authorities in Surendranagar in Gujarat are gearing up to evacuate marooned villagers after floodwaters submerged over 20 villages in the last three days.

Many places in the area have turned into virtual islands making movement difficult.

The local administration along with fire brigade team has chipped in for rescuing hundreds of stranded villagers who are deprived of daily requirements.

"We are providing food materials to the affected families. Once the water starts receding, we will set up camps to check the spread of diseases. We are sending chemicals for the disposal of dead cattle," said Anandi Ben Patel, state Revenue Minister.

Dhingana (Gujarat), Sept 19: Villagers in Gujarat continued to face hardship as floodwaters have submerged more than 20 villages for the last three days.

The region has received heavy rainfall in last 24 hours and many places have turned into virtual islands making movement difficult.

Atleast ten villages including Dhingana, Loliyadeep, Thebra and Bagodara are worst affected as the rainwater has flooded the villages and life has become standstill.
