Chinese troops depart from Karnataka

Belgaum (Karnataka), Dec 15: China's People's Liberation Army troops departed from Belgaum after concluding a joint anti-terrorism exercise with India on Sunday.

Chinese troops will touch down at the Lohegaon Air Base in Pune before their final departure for China.

China and India held the anti-terrorism exercise in a show of cooperation between the two longtime rivals a week after armed militants attacked Mumbai.

The joint drill, named "Hand in Hand 2008", was held here from December 6 and continued until 14 December.

The exercise involving one infantry company from each country was based on an agreement that Beijing and New Delhi struck in 2006.

Dr Kalam turns teacher to Karnataka MLAs

Bangalore, Dec 13 : Repeat whatever I say ok, yes sir repeated the pupils. " I will lead an honest life free from all corruption and will set an example for others to adopt a transparent way of life," said former President A P J Abdul Kalam while inaugurating an orientation camp for first-time legislators in Karnataka.

During a three day orientation camp organized by Karnataka Government and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB), Dr. Kalam in his usual style prepared himself to teach these batches of MLAs and MLCs on good governance, constituency management and other critical issues concerning development.

Talking to media Dr. Kalam said that this orientation programmes was an important tool to promote development.

Belgaum exercise: Indian soldiers excel in firing of Chinese weapons

Belgaum (Karnataka), Dec 11 : Indian and Chinese Army soldiers familiarised each other with their weapons as apart of the ongoing joint military exercise in the mountainous terrains of Belgaum, Karnataka.

After familiarization on each other weapons, the soldiers excelled in using the weapons during exercise Hand in Hand.

Sino-Indian soldiers were introduced to Improvised Explosive Devices, Night Firing, Room intervention and neutralization of impromptu targets on Wednesday.

Expert commandos of the Indian Army also imparted confidence and survival training. Besides these, the Indian Air Force carried out slithering training operations by MI-8 helicopters dropping commandos at the exercise area for rapid action.

Exercise Hand in Hand: Sino-Indian soldiers do counter terror training

Belgaum (Karnataka), Dec 9: Indian and Chinese soldiers underwent practical demonstrations and lectures on counter terror and insurgency in the mountainous terrains of Belgaum on Monday.

The first-ever Sino-Indian military combat exercise on Indian soil to counter terror and insurgency began here on December 6. The exercise will take place from December
6 to 14.

Commencing from the basics of surveillance, security of posts, search and destroy operations many other counter terror operations were demonstrated by soldiers of India and China.

Contingent Leader of the People’s Liberation Army, Senior Colonel Qin Xiang You interacted with the Indian soldiers, and said that there were many things in common between both the armies.

Indian, Chinese troops show 'team spirit'during joint army exercise

Belgaum (Karnataka), Dec 8: Indian and Chinese troops showed improved cooperation and team spirit as they took part in various activities during the ongoing first-ever Sino-India joint military combat exercises on Indian soil.

The competition was not between the Indian troops and the Chinese troops, but the teams were a mix of both Indian and Chinese army personnel.

"Sports brings friendship and team spirit amongst the troops when we play games," said Brigadier S. K. Patiyal of Indian Army on Sunday.

Senior Colonel Qin Xiang You, the Chinese contingent commander said the exercise would help enhance the cooperation between the militaries of both nations.
