Mumbai, Oct. 8 :The Bombay Stock Exchange''s 30-share Sensex, which slumped by more than 8 percent to its lowest in over two years as panic gripped investors after overseas markets tanked on concerns of a looming global recession, staged a recovery in afternoon trading on Wednesday (October 8).

By 2:35 p. m. (local time), the 30-share main index was down 3.26 percent, or 380 points, at 11314.76, after hitting 10,740.76, its lowest since August 01, 2006.

MCX Stock Exchange (MCX–SX) started Currency Futures on Monday in Mumbai. It is launched by the chairman of the Security and Exchange Board of India, C B Bhave in a function held in Mumbai. 

SEBI chairman, CB Bhave said that the market players, operators and investors should contribute to increase the volume of currency trading in the country. The function is attended by many leaders of from banks, corporate, and from other financial institutions.

Mumbai, Oct 8 : The benchmark Sensex on Wednesday tumbled below the 11,000-mark for the first time since August 2006. It lost little over 730 points in late morning trade following weak global markets on deepening financial crisis.

The BSE barometer was trading at 10,965.01 points at 1045 hrs, a loss of 730.23 points, or nearly 6 percent, over the previous close.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange''s (NSE) Nifty dipped by 213.90 points, or 5.5 percent, at 3,392.70 points in late morning trade.

A team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishwas Nangre-Patil, raided a pub, Bombay 73 degrees East, and detained 239 youths who were part of a rave party. According to the law any person in possession of drugs or having consumed drugs can be arrested. 239 youths were caught red-handed in the act, although 9 have been charged with possesing, selling drugs, the others have been sent for urine and blood tests and if found guilty, shall be booked by the police.

Mumbai, Oct 7 : The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex continued its downward trend for the second day in a row and closed at 11695.24 at the end of Tuesday’s trading.

From Monday’s crash of 725, it further slipped to 106.46 points.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty moved between 3,732.65 and 3,537.00 points before ending at 3,606.60, a marginal gain of 4.25 points.

The BSE opened this morning up by over 379 points in early trade.

Similarly, the NSE index rose by 127.05 at 3,729.40 this morning.
