Mumbai: The Mumbai police have claimed that it has solved the murder case of a manager who was found dead at a restaurant in Nana Chowk last week. The police had arrested Ashok Mahanand (20) and Hemsagar Yadav (18) who allegedly killed restaurant cashier Haroon Habib Seliya in Gamdevi on Friday. Both these were working as the staff members in the New Heroes Restaurant. They belong to Daismandi village in Orissa.

According to the police Haroon Habib Seliya, had been a cashier and manager at the New Heroes Restaurant for the last eight years. He used to sleep in the hotel at night, the other staff slept in a separate room.

Mumbai, Oct 7 : After the downward trend over the past few days, the Sensex opened this morning up by over 379 points in early trade. The improvement in the index was attributed to revival of buying by FIIs after SEBI eased curbs on indirect investments by foreign funds and the RBI slashed CRR.

The 30-share index, which had plunged 724.62 points on Monday, recovered by 379.73 points to 12,181.43 points following rebound in the stocks of banking, capital goods, realty and oil and gas sectors.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange''s index rose by 127.05 at 3,729.40.

Mumbai, Oct 6 : Mumbai police today picked up five alleged terror suspects from Pune in connection with the recent blasts in Ahmedabad, Delhi and other places.

Police sources said that antecedents of the five detainees are being verified.

However, senior crime branch officers refused to comment on the issue.

On October 4, a Delhi Metropolitan Court sent five suspected terrorists allegedly involved in the September 13, Delhi serial blasts to 12 days'' police custody.

Mohammed Saif, Zeeshan, Mohammed Shakeel, Zia-Ur-Rehman and Saquib Nissar were produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain who sent them to police custody till October 16.

Mumbai, Oct 6 : Eight alleged drug peddlers have been arrested and 241 persons detained for attending a rave party following a raid at a night club in Mumbai.

Mumbai police acting on a tip-off that drugs were being peddled at the ''Bombay 72 Degree East'' night club, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the city police raided the establishment late on Sunday night, police said.

A woman and an Israeli national were among the eight arrested, they said.
