Such artistic artefacts have been found in the nearby regions of Kostenki and Avdeevo, but this is the first such discovery at Zaraysk.

Archaeologists discover rare Bronze Age amber necklace in Greater Manchester

London, Dec 2 : A team of archaeologists has uncovered a rare amber necklace believed to be about 4,000 years old in Greater Manchester, in the UK, dating back to the Bronze Age.

According to a report by BBC News, archaeologists made the find while excavating a cist, a type of stone-lined grave, in Mellor, Stockport.

Nazis conducted gruesome experiments on prisoners to further medical research

London, Dec 2: A new book has determined that the Nazis conducted gruesome experiments on prisoners of war during the Second World War for medical research, which was in direct violation of basic medical ethics.

The book is called “The Third Reich at War: How the Nazis Led Germany from Conquest to Disaster”, and has been authored by Richard Evans.

According to a report in the Telegraph, the book indicates that medicine was both dominant in the world of science under the Third Reich, and closely allied to the Nazi project.

German scientists used to conduct experiments on concentration camp inmates to gratify their own cruel impulses, according to Evans.

Now, smart ‘biobatteries’ that release drug at right rate

London, December 2 : An Australian team of scientists has come up with a way to turn smart implants that deliver a drug to just the right place in the body into “biobatteries” that release the medicine at exactly the right rate.

Gordon Wallace of the University of Wollongong in New South Wales highlights the fact that presently it is very difficult to control how quickly implants release their payload.

The researcher says that the biobattery produces a current of a known strength that controls the drug’s release.

A research article on his approach reveals that the smart implant is based on magnesium alloy stents that are being developed for surgeons to use as temporary splints to keep damaged blood vessels in shape while they heal.
