British government departments lose one laptop or PC every week

London, Nov 21 : British Government departments have been losing one lap-top or PC every week since the entire child benefit database went missing.

Figures uncovered by Tory frontbencher Grant Shapps MP show that in the year until the end of last month, Government departments lost a total of 53 lap-tops - a quarter of which belonged to the Department for Health.

Scores of other electronic equipment also went missing, including 30 mobile phones and 35 Blackberry-type hand-held personal organisers, The Telegraph reported.

The figures come a year after child benefit discs containing personal details on half the population vanished.

UK troops to withdraw from Iraq early next year if polls go off smoothly

London, Nov 21: UK commander in Basra Major Gen Andy Salmon has dropped enough hints that British combat troops, nearly 4000 in number, will start withdrawing from Iraq by early next year, shortly after key local elections (in Iraq) held at the end of January.

The British withdrawal from Iraq will come almost exactly six years after the first troops crossed over the Kuwait border in the 2003 invasion. Since then 176 servicemen have lost their lives and up to £10 billion has been spent on the operation and new equipment.

The troops withdrawal will be undertaken under the “Operation Drayton”. It will be accelerated if the security situation remained stable following the key provincial elections on Jan 31, reported The Telegraph.

Cambridge University mag prints page three student’s topless pic

London, Nov 21 : A Cambridge University magazine, which has a circulation of 5,000, features a page three image of a topless female student.

The anonymous student, from Homerton College, was snapped in a black lacy thong and stockings straddling one of the city''s historic bridges.

The page three photoshoot was done on Clare College bridge, which goes over the River Cam and is visited by thousands of tourists each year.

The girl agreed to pose for Vivid Magazine’s latest edition, which is published by a group of students once a term, reports the Telegraph.

The mag also has a website and features a video of women sitting in a changing room and then playing football.

According to a report in New Scientist, Jan Fuglestvedt of the Centre of international Climate and Environmental Research (CICERO) in Norway, and his colleagues, did the research, taking into account the different nature and life spans of transportation emissions.

The team inventoried all the different types of emissions that were generated by air, road, ship and rail transportation in 2000.
