Renuka Choudhary deplores death of Modern school girlNew Delhi, Apr 24: Amid an outrage over the death of Akriti Bhatia, Union Minister of State for Women and Children Development Renuka Choudhary on Friday said that such incidents should never happen.

"What can be done is that if there are five or six schools in an area and there is a nursing home or a hospital there then the schools can be linked to that. But we must examine the feasibility of this. We must ensure that something like this never happens," said Renuka.

Meanwhile, Modern School in Vasant Vihar was closed for two days a day after parents and students had laid a siege to the principal over the death of Akriti.

Miland Narain, a student studying in the class sixth of the school said neither the students nor the parents were informed about the closure of school on Friday.

"Nobody told us, nor our parents that the school will remain closed today, We were told that the school will remain open on Friday," said Narain.

Class XII student Akriti died after suffering an asthma attack in school on Tuesday morning.

Media reports said the delay in giving her medical attention in time aggravated her condition, leading to her death.

Akriti''s friend blamed the school authorities for the delay in arranging an ambulance for her. They alleged that the school authorities waited for the victim''s parents to arrange a car to take her to a nearby hospital.

The school authorities earlier clarified that they tried all they could to save the student, including taking her to hospital. (ANI)
