Obesity is linked to several health related problems. Various studies have shown that obesity increases the risk of asthma. A recent research has shown that obesity also affects the acuteness of this disease. Researchers in America found out that rate of hospitalization for asthma is higher in obese persons as compared to non-obese persons. This shows that asthma control is difficult in obese persons.
Researchers analyzed the data collected from 1,113 asthma patients above 35 years of age in America. The study subjects were asked various questions regarding weight, height, smoking habits, other illnesses, treatment and their asthma-specific quality of life, besides asthma control and asthma-related hospitalizations.
