Researchers Find Weak Spot In The HIV Armour

The recent research led by an Indian-origin researcher has offered a ray of hope in the dark cloud of HIV. Sudhir Paul claims that his team has found that this weak spot known as amino acids numbered 421-433 on gp120, is hidden in the HIV envelope protein gp120. This protein is essential for HIV attachment to host cells, which initiate infection and eventually lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or AIDS.

Regular Skin Check Can Save People From Melanoma

A research led by Professor Joanne Aitken, from the Cancer Council Queensland showed that the regular skin checks can 'cut deadly melanoma risk'. The researchers proved that a quick body scan cuts the risk of a deadly melanoma diagnosis by about 15 per cent. The basic logic behind this claim was that a regular body screening by doctors can detect the melanoma in the early stages. Hence it could be cured before it reaches its deadly stages.

The researchers analyzed the data collected from more than 3,000 Queenslanders. These people were diagnosed with one of the dangerous skin lesions. The researchers studied the relationship between skin checks and the severity of the spot.

Study Discovers Gene That Regulates Ovulation

The latest research done by Canadian and European researchers can help many childless couples .The researchers have discovered a gene that regulates ovulation; a gene known as  LRH1 that has ability to both regulate and block ovulation. This discovery could be useful in arenas of infertility treatment on one hand while on the other hand it could be used to produce safer contraceptives.

Under this study, a genetically engineered mouse that had its LRH1 gene blocked was mated with female mice. The female mice didn’t get pregnant, hence this proved that by blocking LRH1, ovulation can be stopped.

Then the skin produces more of the protein collagen, filling in the wrinkles. The researchers said,
