London, Mar 4: A man has been arrested on suspicion of raiding Manchester United footballer Darren Fletcher's house and threatening his fiancee at knife point.

The Scotland midfielder's front door was kicked in and his house in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, was raided while he was away in Italy on European duty on February 23.

Three hooded men grabbed his fiancée Hayley Grice by the hair and ripped the engagement ring from her finger, Sky News reported.

Her mother was also threatened and forced to hand over jewellery while his twin sons, Jack and Tyler, slept on.

Police said a 28-year-old man had been held over the raid at the player's 1.5 million pound mansion.

Melbourne, Mar 4 : Legendary fast-bowler Glenn McGrath has said it will be a long time before the Australian cricket team returns to Pakistan, adding that the attack on the Sri Lankan team justified Australia's decision not to tour Pakistan for over 10 years.

"We haven't toured there since 1998 ... what happened yesterday justifies that. I think it will be a long time before any cricket team or sporting team ventures back to that part of the world," he said.

"At the end of the day, we play cricket because we love it and we don't really want to risk our lives by doing it. I think it will be a long, long time before we get back there, unfortunately," the Daily Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

Lahore, Mar. 4 : Australian cricket umpire Steve Davis said that he immediately hit the floor of the van he was traveling in when the terrorists attacked the convoy carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

Davis said that he thought the shots were firecrackers at first, but when gunmen opened fire on his van, killing the driver and seriously wounding two others, he hit the floor.

"We heard what sounded like fire crackers and popping off and we realized it was something a bit more serious so we all hit the floor of our van," The Courier Mail quoted Davis as telling ABC Radio.
