New Delhi, Feb 4 : The condition of the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was admitted to AIIMS on Tuesday night following respiratory infection and fever, is stable today, doctors said.

The Superintendent of AIIMS, Dr D K Sharma, said: "His condition is stable and he is conscious."

The 84-year-old BJP leader is also suffering from hypertension and diabetes which needs to be taken care of, Dr Sharma added.

Recent survey by NGO Campaign Against Drunken Driving (CADD) revealed that nearly 80 per cent of youngster visiting pubs and bars in Delhi is are below the age of 25 years.

Of the underage population at the city's pubs, 67 percent are below 21 years of age. The survey was conducted from December 2008-January 2009, amongst 1,000 youth who go to pubs and bars. Findings also indicated that the culture of visiting pubs is increasing among the youngsters in the city.

New Delhi, Feb. 3, : A physically challenged student Pawel pinned a flag on the Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor on the occasion of 50th Flag Week of the Deaf on Tuesday.

The Flag Pinning was carried out at the office of the Army Chief at South Block here.

General Kapoor appreciated the efforts of the All India Federation of Deaf (AIFD) in elevating the living quality of the deaf in coordination with the World Federation of the Deaf and other Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs).

New Delhi  - India's merchandise exports are expected to fall by 22 per cent in January due to the global economic crisis, Commerce Secretary GK Pillai said Tuesday.

"Our exports in dollars terms are expected to decline further by 22 per cent," Pillai was quoted as saying by IANS news agency.

"Export growth will not be even 5 per cent this fiscal year," he said, as the key economies in North America and Europe were facing either a recession or a major slowdown. India's financial year runs from April to March.
