SBI considering further reduction in lending ratesNew Delhi, Feb 2 :The State Bank of India, on Monday expressed that it is considering a further reduction in the lending rates by at least 25 basic points.

This was stated by SBI Chairman O P Bhatt, who is here to visit a meeting of state-owned bankers.

The State Bank of India, country''s top public sector lender had already reduced the benchmark PLR by 75 basic points to 12.25 percent on January 1.

Law Minister condemns Gopalaswami''s behaviorNew Delhi, Feb 2 : Law Minister H R Bhardwaj has critisised Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami for his insistence on removal of his colleague Navin Chawla.

He warned the CEC not to act like a "political boss" and concentrate on his duties in the Election Commission.

Bharadwaj said that he has to look into the details of the matter.

Asked if the government had taken any decision on the Chief Election Commissioner''s recommendation to remove Chawla, he said, "When a decision is taken, we will inform you."

Kasab''s police custody extended till February 13

Kasab''s police custody extended till February 13New Delhi, Feb 2 : The police custody of Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of the 26/ 11 terror strikes, has been extended till February 13.

Kasab had been remanded to police custody till today for his involvement in the shootout at the Cama and the Albless Hospital in South Mumbai.

Earlier, Additional Metropolitan Magistrate N Shrimangale and Additional Public Prosecutor E B Dhamal were shifted to an undisclosed location for the hearing. Kasab was not brought to for security reasons.

The proceeds of the fashion show will go to The Blessed Hearts Foundation for the welfare of underprivileged children.

Ritu Beri''s collection was segregated into three sub-divisions - Beri Princess, Rock Star Babes and Bollywood Divas, which included both Indian and western wear.

Delhi holds walkathon for the cancer affected

New Delhi, Feb 1, : Over 3,000 people participated in the annual `Cancer Awareness walk' here on Sunday.

Organized by the `Indian Cancer Society' the `Cancer Walk' was flagged off by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

The walk was meant to create awareness about cancer and to propagate the fact that there is life after cancer.

Sheila Dikshit participated in the awareness program for the third consecutive year and appealed to people to generate confidence in the cancer patients.

Held annually, the walk not only aims to spread awareness, but also seeks to celebrate the undying spirit of the cancer survivors.

Students and parents protest against fee hike in Delhi schools

New Delhi, Feb 1, : Hundreds of school students and parents on Sunday protested near Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi at Rajghat against the Delhi government's decision to allow private schools to hike the fees.

Recently, the Delhi government had allowed the private schools to increase the monthly fees upto Rs. 500.

The protest was organised under the banner of Delhi Parents Council (DPC).

Upset over this, the Delhi Parents Council (DPC) organised this mass protest rally outside Rajghat.
