Bollywood can now hope to breathe easy. In a landmark decision, the Delhi High Court on Friday struck down the Centre's October 2006 notification banning smoking scenes in films. The HC said that the onscreen smoking is a part of the artist’s creative licence.

While lecturing on this, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul said, “Director of films should not have multifarious authorities breathing down their necks when indulging in a creative act.”

New Delhi, Jan 25 : India''s 60th Republic Day celebrations tomorrow in the capital on Monday is expected to be a smooth affair with about 20,000 police personnel, including, 5,000 paramilitaries ensuring its security.

Security arrangements at public places like bus stands, railway stations and airport have also been enhanced.

Security personnel have manned entry and exit at borders lining the capital and they will be sealed tonight.

Jet Airways and its wing JetLite have announced that they have trimmed down the economy class fares by 50% for purchases on the spot for selective domestic routes.

According to sources, customers can avail this low price offer only for three days, commencing January 24.

The reports said that the reduced fares will also be available for tickets booked during the three days for travel at a later date.

The government has announced to ban toys made in Chine with immediate effect. The move is aimed to save the interest of local manufactures, who are facing stiff completion from these toys.

The Supreme Court dismissed the special leave petition and directed it to reply show cause notice given by income tax department.

The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC) again revised Gross Domestic Product (GDP) projections for the current financial year.
