Court to pronounce quantum of sentence to Sukhram todayNew Delhi, Feb 25 : A Delhi court will pronounce the quantum of sentence to former Union Communication Minister Sukhram in connection with a disproportionate assets case today.

On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pleaded before a court to give the maximum punishment of seven years to Sukhram.

Special CBI prosecutor Gurdial Singh told Special CBI Judge V K Maheshwari that Sukhram is liable for a maximum sentence under the Prevention of Corruption Act as the wealth was collected during his tenure as a Minister.

President Patil to inaugurate conference on higher education todayNew Delhi, Feb 25 : President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate a sub-regional conference of South, South-West and Central Asia on Higher Education here today.

The two-day conference is being organised by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development and the National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) in collaboration with UNESCO.

PGIMER to be inaugurated at R.M. L today

New Delhi, Feb 25: Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) will be inaugurated at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here today.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss will be the chief guest. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi will be the guest of honour.

The PGIMER will be constructed at the cost of Rs. 60.16 crore.

Constructed by Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation India Limited, the Institute will comprises of administrative block, academic block, library block, an auditorium with more than 413 seating capacity, cafeteria and a guest house. It has an underground parking.
