Indian woman sells newborn son to pay hospital bill

Hyderabad, India, Andhra PradeshNew Delhi - An impoverished young mother sold her newborn son in India's southern Andhra Pradesh state so she could pay her hospital bill, news reports said Tuesday.

Rajitha, 20, a single mother, sold the baby a day after he was born to a childless couple for 6,000 rupees (about 120 dollars), PTI news agency reported.

Rajitha delivered her baby by a caesarean section last week. Her hospital bills ran up to 2,000 rupees.

Joshi to remain CBSE chairman for six more months

CBSE SchoolNew Delhi, Feb 24 : The government has decided to give Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Secretary Veenith Joshi additional charge of its chairmanship.

The HRD Ministry had written to Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), seeking an extension for Joshi as the appointment of a regular chairman was delayed.

The DoPT agreed to the extension and has directed Joshi to continue his chairmanship either for six months or till the appointment of a regular chairman, whichever is earlier.

General Kapoor on a four-day goodwill visit to Indonesia
