Delhi court has issued summons against three AIIMS doctors in order to explain the “fabrication” of medical reports of a woman who filed a dowry harassment case against her separated partner (husband) and his family members (in-laws) after allegedly being beaten up by them.

Additional Sessions Judge Brijesh Kumar Garg noted the alleged discrepancy in the reports of the woman made by physicians S Lalwani, Arvind Kumar and Gaurav.

The accused Tej Pal Singh and the appellant, both divorcees, married on March 29, 2008.

On early Tuesday, Taj Hotel’s new building in south Mumbai saw a fire breaking out on its 20th floor.

It was reported by the fire officials that there was no casualties involved in the incident.  

“The fire near an unused kitchen of the 20th floor was detected by the hotel's maintenance staff at 7.15 am on Tuesday,” said an official statement from Taj Hotel.    

The statement also said that the cause behind the fire could have been short circuit in the kitchen.

The names of three Indian shooters, including Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra are included among the top-10 in latest world shooting rankings released by International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF).

The World Cup Final gold medalist Gagan Narang moved up three places to the sixth spot in the men's 10-metre air rifle event, while Bindra, who won India's first individual gold medal at Beijing in August, stayed at his second spot.

Store employees and various media reports are suggesting that Apple Inc's popular iPhone would be sold by Wal-Mart Stores later this month.

On Monday, it was informed by employees at various Wal-Mart stores that the iPhone will be available at the Wal-Mart stores in a week or two. However, no official announcement on offering the iPhone at this time was made by the retailer.

In recent weeks, it has been speculated by numerous websites that Apple will offer a 4-gigabyte model of the iPhone for $99 (67 pounds), which holds about 1,000 songs, at Wal-Mart stores.

On Tuesday, it was announced by Microsoft that it is prepared to cut the amount of time it retains the Internet user’s search data to six months from 18 months if other web giants also agreed to do so.

Pressure is being put on the Internet companies by the European Union to reduce the amount of time they hold user’s personal web searching data.

Today, the country’s second largest private sector lender HDFC Bank lowered prime lending rate (PLR) 50 basis points and state-owned Union Bank 75 basis points to 12.5 per cent. It comes just two days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced 100-basis point cuts in key lending rates.

It was informed by HDFC Bank that its benchmark prime lending rate (BPLR) will fall to 16 per cent in two stages. From 15th December, the 25 basis point reduction will come into effect and from 1st January, 2009, a similar cut will also come into effect.
