Tea sector hit by crisis: Rs 2,800-cr package awaits Centre’s nodA stimulus package for the crisis-hit tea industry in the country has been prepared by the Commerce Ministry, following a big economic crisis. The basic aim of the package, worth Rs 2,800 crore, which is submitted to the Government for Cabinet approval, is to improve the tea plantations.

It was announced by the Minister of State for Commerce, Jairam Ramesh, while launching the new e-auction and a GI logo for Assam orthodox tea at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre that the tea growing states like Assam would immensely benefit from the new scheme.

UK Fake Nintendo DS WarningA warning related to the fake imported Nintendo DS and DS Lite consoles that pose fire and safety risk, has been issued by a UK government agency.

The warning issued by Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) came after seizing hundreds of fake Nintendo DS and DS Lite consoles with dangerous power adapters.

After being attracted by the price, around $60 rather than the normal $150, many people had ordered the products. However, it is being said by Nintendo that it did not produce the adapters.

Parliament session begins today

Parliament session begins todayThe ten-day session of Parliament, the last one before the next Lok Sabha polls will begin today. The session, the third part of the monsoon session which began on 21st July, is being conducted at a time when the assembly election results have a soothing effect on the government.

The session, expected to last till 23 December, will create a record of sorts for its length. It is the continuation of the 21-22 July "special session" that was called to enable the Congress-led UPA government to seek a vote of confidence after the Left parties withdrew their support over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
