Veerappan’s Wife ArrestedThe Karnataka police arrested the wife of notorious forest brigand Veerappan on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border in connection with crimes, she committed along with her deceased husband.

Muthulakshmi, wife of Veerappan, the man who haunted the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for several years, was arrested by the Karnataka police near Mettur early Wednesday morning.

Speaking with the media persons Ashok Kumar, sub-inspector said that Muthulakshmi had figured in four TADA cases in which her husband was the main culprit. Kumar said three other accomplices of Veerappan- Punnuswamy, Srinivas and Bose were also arrested during the raid carried out by Chamarajnagar district police.

“All four of them were produced before the court and had been sent to judicial custody till December 22”, the police sub-inspector said.

According to a report, Muthulakshmi was picked up as a prime accused in the Palar-bomb blast case in which 22 persons were killed.

She is also being charged for the Rangaswamyvadi incident in which five persons were murdered and also the attack on the Rampura police station in which five policemen lost their lives. The cops reportedly booked her also for the murder of the deputy conservator of forests, Srinivas.

Muthulakshmi sandalwood smuggler husband, who was involved in several crimes, including the abduction of Kannada matinee idol late Dr Rajkumar, was killed in an operation conducted by the Special Task Force four years ago.
