$100M expansion project to add 200-room hotel to Hollywood Casino Columbus

Hollywood Casino Columbus, a gambling-friendly facility that claims to be the biggest as well as the best of its kind property in Ohio, has announced a major million dollar expansion project that will add a 200-room hotel and numerous new amenities to the property.

Owned by Gaming & Leisure Properties Inc. and operated by Penn Entertainment, Hollywood Casino Columbus in located at 200 Georgesville Road. It has been entertaining gambling enthusiasts since 8th of October, 2012.

Announcing the new expansion project, Gaming & Leisure Properties Inc. revealed that the planned hotel would feature resort-style amenities, and the project would cost the company approx. $100 million.

After the announcement, market experts were quick point out that the addition of the hotel and resort-like amenities would enable the casino to add “resort” to its name. In simple words, the property is on the way to become an integrated resort (IR).

Hollywood Casino Columbus was developed and opened more than a decade ago, nearly four years after Ohio voters approved a measure to grant legal status to casino gambling through a state constitutional referendum. The ballot measure paved way for land-based casinos with slot machines and table games in four biggest cities of the state, viz. Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Toledo.

The idea of adding a hotel to Hollywood Casino Columbus was initially floated by its owner and operator several years ago. But the duo managed to reach an agreement with the Columbus Building & Construction Trades Council only a few days back. It may be noted here that the Columbus Building & Construction Trades Council provides coordination, representation & support to more than one & half affiliated unions in the region.

Rick Skinner, Vice President (VP) and General Manager (GM) of Hollywood Casino Columbus, said that in a statement that he and his team members are very thrilled to introduce new amenities and a fabulous place for players to stay.

Speaking on the topic, Skinner said, “We are thrilled to introduce new amenities and a fabulous place for our players to stay. This will enable us to offer a full conference and banquet package, attracting both existing clients and new businesses to central Ohio and the Columbus West Side with our conference and meeting space abilities.”

Hollywood Casino Columbus claims to have the biggest gaming floor in Ohio. It offers more than 1,900 slot machines, 65 live dealer table games, and a state-of-the-art poker room.
