Aggression is paying off: Srikkanth

Krishnamachari SrikkanthChennai, Nov 24 ; Aggressive approach of the players is instrumental in the success of the Indian cricket team said chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth on Monday in Chennai.

“I think basically I am very happy with the (way) Indian cricket is going now. As you all know against Australia everybody played so aggressively (and) positively and we won the series 2-0. Even against England we have won 4-0 so far in the series. I think one of the main reasons is the positive approach of the entire team openers (Gautam) Gamhbir and (Virender) Sehwag getting fantastic partnership in both test and one-day (internationals). Similarly, Zahir Khan and Ishant Sharma getting early breakthroughs. I think it matters a lot apart from that in one-day cricket, people like Yuvraj Singh coming back to form is something fantastic so the whole thing is aggressive approach.”

Former captain and flamboyant opener of his times, Srikkanth was referring to recent success of Indian cricket team against Australia and other teams.

He also said that the team would go for win in the remaining one day matches of the seven match series against England.

India has already taken an unassailable 4-0 lead against the tourists.

Of late the Indian team has witnessed a winning spree especially under young skipper M. S. Dhoni.

Dhoni has led the team to many memorable victories including winning the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa and VB series against Kangaroos Down Under.

Moreover, Australia also got a 2-0 thrashing with Dhoni at the helm during its recent tour to India. (ANI)
