AIIMS To Conduct Two-Day Course To Offer Tips for ‘Happy Married Life’

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the leading health AIIMS to Offer Tips for "Happy Married Life"institute in India, has decided to conduct a ‘pre-marriage course to encourage happy marriages’ for those who are getting married.

The two-day course is being organized by the Health Promotion and Health Communication Unit of the hospital on July 29-30, 2008.

Mr. Bir Singh, professor of community medicine and convener of the course, said that any person above 18 years and planning to get married can take part in the course.

Mr. Singh, who also heads the Sex and Marriage Counselling Clinic at AIIMS, stated that number of marital dispute and sexual disharmony, HIV/AIDS and STDs amongst young couples is increasing day-by-day.

Despite tensions, ignorance, myths and fake impressions regarding human body, sex and failure to adjust in marriage are the main reasons for this, Mr. Singh added.

“This is the motivation for starting such a course. This course aims at helping the youth in preparing themselves physically, socially and emotionally for married life in a better way,” Mr. Singh said.

The course will be open for 30 participants per batch on a ‘first come-first served’ basis and a nominal registration fee will be charged.

Topnotch doctors in the country will provide suggestions on common sexual troubles in addition to sexually transmitted illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and gonorrhea.

Moreover preliminary information on screening for genetic diseases will also be provided to the partakers.

Well-known specialists will carry out sessions in this course covering up information on human and sexual structure, contraception, common sexual problems, sexually transmitted diseases, screening of genetic diseases and making adjustments in married life.
