Air India Flights to operate under single control
To reduce passenger woes, Air India will now operate under a single code, that is, AI (098). This change will be effective from February 27. However this date is a media buzz, and has not yet been confirmed by Air India. Air India and Indian Airlines merged three years ago, but combined airlines are still using the different codes for the two different carriers.
Passengers face too much of difficulty with this. Now with introduction of single code, passenger would benefit from easy transfers from domestic to international and international to domestic flights on Air India network. According to media reports, from Sunday, Delhi-Mumbai flight IC165 will be operated under AI 665 code and IC 167 code will be AI659.
This new Passenger Service System will be in effect from next Monday (possibly). SITA will provide single code (AI) for all operations of the Air India. SITA will provide Air India the Passenger Service System. This new PSS will be at par with industry standards. Besides this core module, SITA will also provide other modules like Revenue Management System, Revenue Accounting System, Internet Booking Engine, Loyalty Plus, Integrated Operations Control Cell and Hub Control etc.
SITA is a specialist in the field and has proven record in PSS solutions. It has served 104 customers including Malaysia Airlines. Malaysia Airlines is almost equal to Air India in fleet size and operations, so SITA can comfortably install the modules.
