Islamabad, June 21 : Airport, hospital, road to be named after Benazir BhuttoThe Pakistan government has decided to name an airport and a hospital in Islamabad and a road in Rawalpindi after the country’s former premier and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

According to a statement issued by the prime minister’s secretariat, the Islamabad International Airport will now be called Benazir Bhutto International Airport, the Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) as Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Murree Road as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Road, reported the Daily Times.

The announcement, which came a day before Benazir Bhutto’s birth anniversary, said that the RGH and Murree Road had been renamed in consultation with the Punjab government.

The prime minister also announced an initial grant of Rs 50 million for the RGH upgradation, construction of a monument outside Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh where Benazir was assassinated.

The monument’s design will be selected through open international competition, the statement said. (ANI)
