All smiles await as HIV cure gets a major breakthrough

All smiles await as HIV cure gets a major breakthroughWhat seems to be an important milestone, has been accomplished as the Integrase’s structure is finally through. Integrase - the enzyme used by HIV to transfer its genetic information into the infected person’s DNA and to pass on the infection.

A huge amount of effort was put in to make the designing of this enzyme a possibility. It’s a 3D structure which will enable the scientists to study the attachment of the virus to its host.

This is certainly a milestone in the field of AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) research. It’s still in the pipeline as the viability to make this structure involves an immense groundwork. It still has to pass its litmus test as the side effects remain tall (reason - the crystal was grown using a version of integrase borrowed from a little-known retrovirus called Prototype Foamy Virus, PFV).

Considering the stake, 33.4 million are HIV patients and 2 million people died of AIDS. Scientists would leave no stone unturned to crack the hold of HIV.
