Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal are in the race for award at Ivor Novello awards. Both are nominated in the song writing category.

While Allen is nominated I two categories, Rascal is named for best Contemporary song (Bonkers) and Album.

The Ivor Novello award named after composer and songwriter Ivor Novello was established in 1955 in an attempt to recognize the best British artist in the field of composition and song writing.

The surprise nomination for the year is none other than last years Nick Hemming, who is nominated for his song 'For Someone Who Cares'. The artist was the surprise winner in the same category last year.

Among other nominees, The Duckworth Lewis Method, an album by Neil Hannon and Thomas Walsh is short-listed in Album award category. La Roux, Bat fornLashes and Paolo Nutini are also in the nomination list.
