Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela  - Already-qualified Paraguay ended Venezuela's hopes to reach the 2010 World Cup with a 2-1 win Saturday.

Striker Salvador Cabanas put Paraguay ahead in the 55th minute in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, while Benfica's Oscar Cardozo put the score 2-0 in the 77th minute.

Striker Nicolas Fedor failed to score from the spot for Venezuela in the 82nd minute, and Alejandro Rondon's goal four minutes from time was not enough for the hosts. (dpa)
