Andheri double murder: Three watchmen held

Andheri police arrested three watchmen from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, for the murder of a senior citizen and his wife in Andheri (East) last week.

An eight-year-old child in Fatehpur identified the photos of the prime accused and received a reward of Rs 15. The accused have been identified as Amit Kumar, 18, Sikander Balmiki, 22, and Sudhir Balmiki alias Goolu, 20.

"Amit called Sikander and Sudhir on the pretext of watching television at Chandnani's house. They threw a bedsheet over the old lady and suffocated her to death. Then they pressed pillows over her bedridden husband's face, smothering him to death," said Archana Tyagi, additional commissioner of police, western region.

Amit worked as a nurse with the Kundnanis. He was also employed with BSS security agency. His friends Sikander and Sudhir also worked there. After the incident they all went missing.

A team from Andheri police station reached Fatehpur, arrested the accused and brought them to Mumbai. "They have confessed and were granted police custody till March 13," said senior PI Pradeep Suryavanshi of Andheri police.
