Andhra University Inks MoU To Launch Country's First Pharma 'D' CourseAccording to reports, Andhra University (AU) has inked a 'historical' MoU with the State government's King Geroge Hospital (KGH).

Under the deal, AU is launching a 6-year Pharma D course, first of its kind in India, from this academic session.

While speaking on the occasion, Prof B Satyanarayana, Vice-Chancellor, AU, stated that the new course would alter the very profile of the pharma researches thereby adding authentic clinical dimension to the course that has been thus far in industry-oriented studies.

The course would be offered to the pupils based on their performance in Engineering Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET).

At first, the number of seats would be 30 in addition to the seats for NRI.

Pupils who have finished the earlier degree course in Pharmaceutical Science can join the course in the fourth year, he added.

The course demanded the pupil to be attached to a 300-bed hospital right from the second year of his studies to impart him with practical knowledge.

Besides, the pupil who bagged Pharma D degree was entitled to practice in the US. Till now pharma pupils were required to get through a 6-year course in the US to be qualify for employment there, he pointed out.

Rs 25,000 and Rs 1,000 each would be offered to KGH for students in their 6th year internship and training respectively. The fee for management seats would be Rs 1,60,000 whereas for regular seats it would be Rs 51,000, he added. (With Inputs from Agencies)
