Islamabad, Oct. 19 : Pakistan''s Chief of Army Staff, General Asfaq Pervez Kayani, has reportedly told visiting US Senator John Kerry that while the country''s armed forces are not opposed to American assistance, there should be no conditions set on Pakistan's national security.
General Kayani is also said to have convyed the same message to US CENTCOM chief General David Petreaus at a separate meeting at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi.
US Senator John Kerry and US Central Command chief David Petraeus were visiting Pakistan for talks with the country's political and military leadership.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has once again reiterated that Pakistan and the US must work together to bridge the trust deficit between the two nations.
Gilani also emphasised that the international community should come forward with adequate financial assistance for relief and reconstruction in the affected areas.
General Petraeus said the US acknowledges the sacrifices Pakistan has made in the war on terror. (ANI)
